The aim of the Revivalists Group is to link people into those resources that will help them on their recovery journey. That is both for people seeking their own recovery and those affected by other people’s addictions. We would like to train people who act as the ‘human bridges’ to support recovery journeys by actively championing and promoting connections to positive community assets.

There are two sessions from 10 until 2pm on the 25th of February and from 10 until 12 noon on the 11th of March . You will need to be available to attend both sessions.

What will I get out of it?

To a large extent, that is up to you! We hope that you will make good and positive relationships with community resources and crucially with other Revivalists. You will also be able to inspire and support people at all stages of their recovery journey and contribute to an Inclusive Recovery Cities model that should improve the quality of life for everyone in your community.

How will I know if I am suitable?

It is really important that you understand that recovery practice is a reciprocal process of development and growth. Therefore there is no assumption that you will have all of the skills or experience required at the start – it is meant to be a growth journey. This is also the reason why we are looking for a team of people to work together and to complement each other’s skills and capabilities. The essential qualities are:

  • A passion about recovery

  • Interest and knowledge about the local area

  • Good people and social skills

  • A willingness and commitment to work as a team

The rest we can and will develop as a part of the project.

If you are interested and able to attend please email louisa.baily@newcastle.gov.uk by Tuesday the 18th of February to confirm:

Dietary requirements

Access requirements

The places are limited and will be offered on a first come first serve basis. Please also share if you know of others who would be interested in attending. If you are already a revivalist please use your skills and knowledge to help us to recruit the new cohort of revivalists – we want the recovery community to drive the blossoming and opportunities for potential revivalists. We want to increase the capacity and quality of recovery support services and strengthen the local recovery community and you are all key in this!
